Aromatherapy is not just a massage treatment; essential oils are the base materials of aromatherapy, originally they are strong smelling substances that are produced in plants.
At Escape all our aromatherapy treatments use essential oils that are blended together specifically for the client after consultation.
My belief is the art and aim as an Aromatherapist is in selecting and blending oils to meet the individual needs of each client.
It is also important that clients like the smell of the essential oil, as they could smell it for up to 24 hours after application. This is always checked before the treatment proceeds.
When giving an aromatherapy treatment, a question that is often asked is: “Is it the massage or the essential oils” that has an effect on the client? From the feedback of clients and the observations I have made during my clinical practice, touch and massage, aromatherapy and essential oils improves the body’s healing powers and affects mind and body in the short term bringing about homeostasis.
A study by Stevenson investigated the effects of foot massage using neroli essential oil. It was found that the effects for using essential oil with massage were more relaxing, calming and restful and were longer lasting.
Aromatherapy is a complementary therapy that is based on the use of concentrated plant essences. This is where the term essential oil comes from. Aromatherapy is used to reduce the symptoms of a range of conditions and aims to improve both physical and emotional wellbeing. Your Aromatherapist will discuss your care before carrying out your procedure, essential oils will then be selected and blended together designed to meet your individual needs.
